My Algebra I students have been learning about proportions, ratios, scale factors, and convertions. (First half of October)

The students get a layout of a NBA sized basketball court, and use an average NBA player at a size of 6'6", and after converting all measurements to inches, then they use it to find what size a basketball court should be if you had a 2" Gummi Bear as a player. This is done by proportion math set up. The students seemed to really enjoy the project and I had I great time watching. After they were done, they had to write a reflection over the assignment. Some of the basketball courts didn't last very long around hungry teens.
